Bodegas Riojanas is a historic family winery located in Cenicero, in the picturesque region of La Rioja.
Founded in the distant 1890s by the Frías-Artacho family, it is today a true institution in the wine world.
With a passion passed down from generation to generation, Bodegas Riojanas has grown into a prestigious wine group, proudly carrying its fine wines around the world.
Each bottle encapsulates the essence of the lands of different denominations of origin, including Rioja, Toro, Rueda, Ribera del Duero, Bierzo, Rías Baixas, Monterrei, Penedés, Cava and Champagne.

With more than a century of winemaking tradition, Bodegas Riojanas treasures a rich history in its winery in Cenicero.
Every corner of the winery is steeped in history and tells of the passion that went into the ageing of its wines.
This tradition and passion have been passed on to the current team at Bodegas Riojanas, who consider their most valuable legacy to be their commitment to the quality and personality of their wines.
Bodegas Riojanas controls more than 200 hectares of the best vineyards in Cenicero, San Vicente de la Sonsierra and nearby towns. The grape that is harvested par excellence in Rioja is Tempranillo, but Bodegas Riojanas also has one of the largest extensions dedicated to Mazuelo and Graciano within the Denomination, varieties that provide a greater personality to the wines it makes. The various vineyards are located on clay-limestone soils, formed during the Miocene period, which makes them ideal for producing wines of the highest quality.
At the beginning of October, once the summer heat is over, the grapes are harvested, which is more than just picking the grapes.
The choice of the optimum time for harvesting, the productivity of the vines, the selection of the batches of grapes destined to make the different types of wine in the winery... Everything will influence the characteristics and final quality of the wines obtained.
The batches of grapes from old vineyards are collected in boxes, to prevent the pressure produced by the weight from breaking the grape berries and to ensure that they arrive at the winery in the best possible condition.
Once in the winery, the grapes are subjected to a rigorous manual selection, bunch by bunch, to guarantee the production of the highest quality wines of Bodegas Riojanas. After fermentation, the wine undergoes a careful ageing process, first in barrel and then in bottle, in strict compliance with the requirements established by the Rioja Qualified Designation of Origin and following the guidelines of the winery's Technical Management. The duration of this process in barrel and bottle defines the different categories of wine: crianza, reserva or gran reserva.
